Tamika Zapolski, PhD

Dr. Zapolski is a clinician working in both the pediatric and adult clinics through IU Health, with clinical expertise in substance use treatments and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for both youth and adults. She is the director of the Prevention Research in Substance Use and Minority Health (PRISM) lab, with two complementary lines of research: 1) understanding developmental and culturally based risk and resilience factors to substance use and mental health outcomes among racial/ethnic minority youth, and 2) the implementation of youth substance use and mental health interventions in community settings.
Dr. Zapolski conducts most of her work in collaboration with community organizations and individuals. She is the Director of Community Engagement for the Indiana University School of Medicine Adolescent Behavioral Health Research Program and the Director of the Indiana University School of Medicine Youth Coalition, which provides mentorship, training, and leadership opportunities related to youth mental health to individuals age 13-18 in the Indianapolis area.
Dr. Melissa Cyders

She completed her predoctoral internship at the VA Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan Medical Center. She is a Professor of Psychology at IUPUI and is the Director of Clinical Training for the Clinical Psychology graduate program area. Her research concerns how impulsivity and its neurocognitive underpinnings impart risk for a wide range of clinical problems and disorders, especially alcohol and substance use. Her work is funded by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and the Indiana University Addictions Grand Challenge program.
Michael Wagner, PhD, F-ABFT
Wagner is recognized as a Fellow with the American Board of Forensic Toxicology (F-ABFT). Currently serving as a faculty member at Indiana University/Purdue University, he previously held the position of Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology/Toxicology and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at IUSM. In his role as the Laboratory Director for Witham Health Services – Toxicology Department, Dr. Wagner provided clinical services for various departments, including the Emergency Room, Pain Management, OB-GYN, Psychiatry, and Addiction Monitoring.
With a diverse background encompassing senior positions in government, academia, clinical, and private laboratories, Dr. Wagner possesses extensive knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in each specific setting. His experience spans environmental, clinical, and forensic toxicology, utilizing a range of analytical techniques, matrices, and administrative protocols.
Dr. Wagner's research interests focus on bio-distribution studies, pharmacogenomics, and drug metabolism, particularly exploring drug-drug interactions. His investigations extend to molecular mechanisms in neurological and metabolic cells/tissues exposed to drugs, metals, and other toxins.
Actively engaged in the scientific community, Dr. Wagner has participated in numerous conferences and workshops. He is a distinguished member of various organizations, including AACC (American Association of Clinical Chemistry), SOFT (Society of Forensic Toxicology), IATDM (International Association of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring), and AAFS (American Association of Forensic Toxicology).
Olawale Ojo, MD, MSC
earned his medical degree at Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. He completed his general psychiatry residency at Interfaith Medical Center, Brooklyn New York. See More >>
He is ABPN board certified in general psychiatry. He trained at the Indiana University at the Addiction Psychiatry program. He is currently the Director of Addictions program at Methodist Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Tyler Stepsis, MD
is a board certified emergency medicine physician. He is currently the medical director for the Eskenazi emergency department, and continues to be humbled by the quality, compassion, and work ethic of his colleagues. See More >>
Tyler also works with IndyCar as a track physician for the Safety Team and is active in simulation education for emergency medicine as well as the department of pediatrics.
Darrin McClure, LCSW
Darrin McClure is a licensed clinical social worker with approximately 23 years of experience. Darrin currently works in research with the IUSM Dept of Psychiatry’s Adolescent Behavioral Health Research Program, maintains a caseload in IU Health’s dual diagnosis adolescent substance use clinic, and helps staff IUSM’s Adolescent Addiction Access (AAA) teleconsultation hotline.
Spencer Medcalf, RN

Spencer oversaw a team of 6 other recovery coaches that provide peer recovery services to approximately 15 emergency departments & inpatient units across the IU Health System. He obtained his Certified Addiction Peer Recovery Coach certification (CAPRC2) in 2018. He also obtained MATS (Medication Assisted Treatment Specialist), CSPR-PR (Certified Supervisor of Peer Recovery coaches), & TTS (Tobacco Treatment Specialist) certifications during his time at IU Health Spencer is a person in long term recovery from Substance Use Disorder, with over 6 years of recovery & wellness. He was awarded ICAADA’s 2018 Recovery Coach of the Year.
Spencer recently graduated from Ivy Tech Community College, with his Associates of Science in Nursing (ASN) cum laude and a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). Now, he is currently enrolled at IUPUI pursuing his Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN). Spencer has served as both an expert panelist & facilitator for several IU SoM Project ECHO Tracks. He believes advocacy and education are fundamental to breaking the stigma of SUD and providing high quality care.

is an attorney who focuses his practice in health care and pharmacy litigation, health care and pharmacy regulatory, all aspects of long-term care, professional licensing and liability, product liability, white collar criminal defense, trucking litigation, and general tort and business litigation.
David Butterfield , PharmD

Additionally, David serves as the Residency Coordinator for the PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency Program at Eskenazi Health/Purdue University and is responsible for oversight of research, teaching, committee work, and clinical development of the residents.
